Total Syndication and Total Syndication Marketing is KEY!

How are you generating your leads? Are you following the same old-school practices of calling up friends and family? Are you paying for expensive lists?

Many people have not realized that list and lead building has changed. These practices don’t work anymore, and they actually didn’t work in the first place. How is this possible you might ask? When this is what I’ve been told to do? When this is what I’ve been told has been proven to be effective?

Think about it this way. You start out with a list of your friends and family to generate leads. Odds are you’re chasing them down, and not vice versa. Not one of your friends or family members has asked you about your amazing new business and how they can sign up, right? Not without you having to spew your sales pitch to them first. If you’re lucky, you might get one to two sympathetic contacts that are willing to humor you for a while and try out your business/service.

As far as buying expensive lists…generally these lists have been compiled over a period of time and many of these so-called “leads” are no longer warm, if they ever were to begin with. Many businesses will purchase lists that are not even related to their specific niche business. For instance, veterinarians, hair salons, and pediatric clinics will purchase lists of new home owners within the area. Not only do these lists come to you late, but the odds are that many of these new homeowners are not interested in your services just because of their new geographical location. The actual return on your investment can tend to be pretty slim, and often you have to entice these lists with discounts or free offers.

The new way of marketing and generating leads is by using something called a capture page or by utilizing lead systems online. These systems work for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You continually generate leads, and you have the ability to manage your own database of contacts, rather than rely on a 3rd party to do it for you. These leads also tend to be highly targeted because you’ve created a capture page that is tailored to your specific niche. Therefore, if someone is opting-in to your list to receive information, they want your specific information about your specific product. Talk about a warm list.

There are generally three qualities you want to look for in a lead system:

1) The ability to create lead capture pages quickly and efficiently. A good lead system should have software that allows you to create multiple high-quality lead capture pages in little to no time, and the system should allow you to control all the content you want to put on that page.

2) The ability to show you how to generate traffic. Building wonderful capture pages will do nothing for you if you don’t have a way of driving traffic to them.

3) The system should be a funded proposal system. This means that you can communicate with those that opt-in to your list, but may not necessarily be willing to purchase your main product/service. What’s the advantage of this? You can lead with smaller products/services (such as affiliate products) that will end up funding your primary business by either letting you break even and generate leads, or maybe even build a decent residual income while you work on your primary business.
